The Federal Government recently withdrew its money laundering charge against Binance Holdings Limited’s executive, Tigran Gambaryan, due to his deteriorating health and diplomatic efforts from the United States. Gambaryan, who had been detained since February amid allegations of manipulating the Nigerian naira, was held alongside Binance’s regional manager, Nadeem Anjarwalla. Anjarwalla reportedly escaped custody in March, leaving Gambaryan to face the charges alone.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed gratitude for Gambaryan’s release, noting it as a positive step in collaborative efforts between the United States and Nigeria. Blinken’s statement emphasized the importance of Gambaryan’s return to the U.S. for specialized medical care.
