On Friday, thirteen people tragically lost their lives in a severe road accident on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, according to the Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. near Olam farm, involving a Toyota Hiace van with license plate GTG 96YA, carrying eleven passengers, and a Golf Saloon car, marked RBC 369XE, which had five occupants.

Kabir Nadabo, the FRSC Sector Commander, reported that the collision left thirteen dead, with the bodies subsequently transported to St. Gerrard’s Hospital. Three individuals survived the accident and were immediately taken to AP Smart Hospital in Kakuri for urgent medical treatment.

In his statement, Nadabo extended his condolences to the families affected and stressed the importance of road safety, especially during the “ember months”—a period typically marked by increased road traffic and higher accident rates. He advised motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits, maintain vigilance, and follow essential safety guidelines to help prevent such tragedies. Nadabo emphasized that the FRSC is fully committed to making Nigerian roads safer for all users and will continue efforts to enforce traffic regulations and promote road safety awareness among drivers and passengers.
